Overview:

The Award is a concise qualification designed to give learners a basic knowledge of the various roles, functions and responsibilities of a team leader and the limits of their authority and accountability. The mandatory unit in ‘Developing yourself as a team leader' is a good starting point for team/cell leaders who are new to their roles or for aspiring leaders who wish to gain a solid understanding of the principles and practicalities of team leading. |

Outline programme:

Session 1 Induction What it is all about, aims and objectives of the programme, student's expectations, membership of Institute of Leaderships and Management, Belbin's team analysis. Motivation in the Workplace - Understand the organisation's needs in relation to performance. How to address under performance. Understand what motivates people. Session 2 Developing Yourself as a Team Leader- Role and responsibilities of a Team Leader, accept feedback to improve own performance. Self development. Session 3 Planning and organising the team's work - Understand how to plan, allocate and monitor the teams work. Reflective Reviews and Knowledge Assessment |

Training and Assessment Approach: |
Training Approach: All training will be workshop based, participative and relevant to the organisation. In addition delegates will have a number of self study units to complete. Assessment Approach: To successfully gain the Institute of Leadership and Management certificate in team leading delegates must complete a mini work based project, a Knowledge Assessment test and give a 5 minute presentation.

Progression: |
Learners may progress from the Award in Team Leading to the Certificate in Team Leading.
Learners may also progress to another qualification at a suitable level within or outside the Qualifications and Credit Framework, for example the ILM Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in First Line Management. |
